Desktop Construction

Maple strips were joined around the permiter of the desktop to create a flat and thin but rigid surface.

A 1" x 3" maple strip at the rear of the desktop, joined with biscuits and glue, prevents the desktop from bending under pressure.  Three-quarter inch strips around the remaining sides hide the plywood edges, provide a durable and rounded edge and flatten the plywood sheet.  The slight bend in the raw plywood sheet disappeared after this edge treatment was applied.
